FAQs

Here some common ones but feel free to reach out to us on hello@harkcoffee.com.au with more.

Hark uses our very own custom air-roasting technology that we have refined over several years of research and development. Air roasting yields a totally unique outcome and the potential for flavour-development is actually mind-boggling. Hark’s perspective on coffee is also unique. We strive to hold two things in tension: firstly to highlight the interesting brighter notes in coffee; and secondly to couch those bright notes on a full bodied backdrop. A jeweller doesn’t place diamonds on a white tablecloth but on black light-absorbing velvet. This allows you to see the brilliant cuts, clarity and overall wow factor in contrast. This is our goal with every coffee we roast.

Recipes are designed to control for variables. Uncontrolled variables create inconsistency in your cup. The more you remove these through measurability the more consistently you get an amazing cup of coffee! Starting with a brew recipe allows you to tweak one variable at a time with your coffee to geek out and optimise the yielding flavour for your palate.

Easy Peasy

Humdinger = milk drinker: piccolo and latte, think balance

Butter Bing = milk drinker:  dark cacao, wake me up, take me back to the mother land. Think strong

Sugarman = milk drinker: always rotating, always a more funky for the one who likes to challenged and dip their toe into higher quality arabica: think adventurous

Single Origin = black coffee drinker, small amounts of milk: this is always changing but will usually have body and finish with nice hints of acidity, sweetness and/or caramel: think smooth

Bogota Baby = black coffee drinker, small amounts of milk: it would not be a complete singles range for black drinkers without highlighting one of the most interesting and consistent countries in coffee production, also great for cold brew: Think body and balance

Filter= black coffee drinker, alternative brewing: do you enjoy the finer things? This coffee is for V60’s, batch brew and chemex. This produces a more tea like experience and generally has much more pronounced flavours and aromas.
